FAMILY BACKGROUND:
Both parents served in the military forces. One of four children, Kazakov spent most of his childhood stationed on various military bases throughout the former USSR.

CHILDREN: Son Olek born 1978 in Kiev. Has no contact with his father.
STATUS: Training instructor.

1959 Born in the Ukraine.
1977 Volunteered to join Soviet Navy, but was rejected and subsequently conscripted into the army.
1979-1982 Fought two tours of duty during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
1982 Awarded two medals for valiant conduct and transferred to Spetznatz special forces unit.
1982-1990 Served on numerous operations with Russian special forces. Spent time working as both a training instructor and on diplomatic protection duties.
1991-1994 After retiring from the Russian army, Kazakhov was recruited by NATO to consult on Russian military training. He devised special training exercises in which American and European special-forces learned Soviet combat techniques.
1994-2006 Training advisor for British special forces and the security services.
2007 Joined CHERUB as a training instructor.
